Moving for a greener future – the BitPeak way

This spring, we got moving, literally. As part of our internal initiative, Active for Forests (Aktywni dla Lasów), carried out in partnership with Posadzimy.pl, BitHikers took on a challenge that combined physical activity with environmental responsibility. The concept was straightforward: turn everyday movement into something meaningful. Each kilometre covered – whether on foot, wheels or in the water – contributed directly to reforestation efforts across Poland.

How far did we go?

Over two months, 20 BitHikers covered a total of 6,551 kilometres – an average of nearly 260 km per person. To put it into perspective, that’s almost like circling the entire border of Poland twice! Cycling was the most popular activity among BitHikers, with 2,624 km logged, followed by walking (1,680 km) and running (830 km). But that’s not all – some of us have contributed to the challenge with swimming and even rollerblading.

BitHikers’ commitment turned into real, measurable gains for the environment:

  • 131 trees funded for planting – that’s 145 m² of forest area!
  • 786 kg of CO₂ to be absorbed annually
  • Over 7,500 m² of paper-equivalent impact returned to nature

Our champions – top 3 BitHikers

Behind the impressive overall results are individual efforts that truly stood out for their dedication and perseverance. These top three BitHikers pushed their limits, turning every kilometer into a contribution to our shared environmental goal:

As you can see, the competition was fierce – the difference between first and second place was just 2 kilometres! Our BitHikers kept pushing and chasing each other right up to the very last day, making every step and pedal stroke count. It was a close race filled with energy and a shared drive to go the extra mile for the planet.

Scenic views along the way

The Active for Forests challenge was not only a chance to contribute to the environment but also a perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy some stunning views. BitHikers explored diverse beautiful locations – from Kraków’s riverfronts and Tatry’s Rusinowa Polana to Slovakia’s Dolina Kwaczańska. Whether on mountain trails, city parks, or lakeside paths, every kilometer was accompanied by unforgettable scenery and the spirit of adventure. These shared memories made the challenge truly special beyond the numbers.

Ready to ride with the mobile bike service

As part of the initiative, we also organized our very own Bike to Work Day at the BitPeak office in Warsaw. A mobile repair service visited to help cyclists tune up their bikes and keep them in top shape. This small but meaningful gesture made daily commuting smoother and encouraged even more active participation in the challenge. It was a great way to combine practical support with our shared environmental goals.

What happens next?

Thanks to the kilometers we’ve collectively covered, BitPeak will fund the planting of 131 trees in partnership with Posadzimy.pl. The first confirmed planting sites are scheduled for autumn 2025, and among others, we will support reforestation efforts near Jezioro Głębokie in West Pomerania, in Podkarpackie Voivodeship, and in Tuchola County in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship.

These are the initial confirmed locations, with additional planting sites planned in the coming months. Professional teams with expertise, experience, and specialized equipment will carry out the plantings. Native species are carefully selected according to regional seed zoning to ensure that only species naturally suited to each area are planted — the forest chooses what should grow, not us.

Thank you to everyone who joined our initiative! We clearly showed that BitHikers are an active team, not only for forests, but in general!
