The client

Inter Cars is a leading distributor of automotive spare parts, tools, and garage equipment, catering to professionals and vehicle owners. Established in 1990 and headquartered in Poland, the company serves customers across Europe with an extensive portfolio of products for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and motorcycles.

Inter Cars is known for its innovative logistics, supported by ILS, a dedicated logistics company within the group. Its broad network of branches and commitment to quality offer reliable solutions to meet the needs of 13 industries.

The challenge

ILS, as a logistics operator of the Inter Cars Group, has long relied on an on-premises infrastructure. However, as the company grew, it became clear that a move to the cloud was necessary. The existing system struggled to meet the increasing demand for real-time data, leaving decision-makers without access to current information. This issue was particularly evident in monitoring unloading processes, which led to inefficiencies and delays in operations.

The old system had trouble because data was spread across different systems and provided by various tools, making it hard to prepare accurate reports. Combining this data was complicated and caused delays in operations. When the system failed, the team had to recover lost data manually, which further disrupted work. Additionally, the reporting system was slow and inconsistent, which made it difficult for the business to respond quickly in a fast-changing market.

The solution

We developed a reporting solution leveraging Power BI and cloud-based architecture to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.

Designed with UX best practices, the solution ensures real-time insights, with data from multiple source systems processed and made available within just 5 minutes.

By providing highly detailed and timely inventory reports, the system empowers management with oversight and control over operations.

Our flexible MVP framework serves as a robust foundation for integrating, cleaning, and organizing raw data from diverse sources, ensuring consistency and accuracy while preserving historical data for deeper analysis.

This scalable approach not only optimizes costs but also lays the groundwork for future group-level expansion.

With a positive response from Inter Cars Group, this initiative has set a new benchmark for data-driven business solutions.

To reach our goal, we used the following tech stack:

• Databricks Delta Live Tables (DLT) – used to manage ELT processes, ensuring efficient data extraction, loading, and transformation
• Databricks Unity Catalog – manages metadata and ensures data governance across the system
• Microsoft Azure – deployed the solution on this cloud platform, leveraging its robust infrastructure and scalability
• Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) – serves as the primary data storage platform, enabling efficient data storage and retrieval
• Automated Data Recovery Mechanism – implemented a generic mechanism for automatic data retrieval in CSV files, eliminating the need for manual intervention and minimizing downtime
• pySpark & Spark SQL – utilized for processing large datasets, ensuring efficient and scalable data handling
• Power BI: data visualization
